There was a feather lying on my doorstep this morn

There was a feather lying on my doorstep this morning - seeing a feather is often followed by a message from your ancestors . . .

I thought long and hard about what that message could possibly be, and with today being #InternationalWomensDay, I guess it is to always learn from your past and to follow your heart.

These are sentiments which have been passed down through the generations of strong women whom I’ve been lucky enough to have had in my life.

The second photo shows five generations on my Mum’s side: my Great Great Granny, Betsy Shepherd (who lived to be 107!); my Great Granny, Charlotte Gilbert; my Granny, Charlotte Reid; my Mum, Charlotte Beaton; my sister, Ann, and myself.

The third photo is Dad’s Mum: my Granny Beaton, Jessie, who always encouraged me to be creative.

I just want to thank all of them so much for being an inspiration and strong influence on me growing up - you have all played a part in shaping the strong woman that I am today.

“March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.”

Being the daughter of a farmer, I grew up hearing this saying every year. The meaning behind it is that if the weather at the start of March is bad (roaring like a lion), then the month should - in theory - end with good weather (gentle like a lamb). It’s a bonnie, clear morning here today, so keeping everything crossed!

So I’m curious, what’s the weather like where you are today?

Wow, I cannot believe we’ve reached the end of the challenge already - the last 28 days have just flown by, haven’t they?

I’ve really enjoyed getting to know a wee bit more about you all, and also about what it is that you do, and why it is that you do it. There have been some absolutely stunning photos which have been shared throughout the challenge, as well as with some lovely new places to visit and some book recommendations too.
